HAMDEN, Conn. (AP) — Chaise Daniels scored 17 points with four steals and Quinnipiac knocked off Marist 77-63 on Sunday.
Daniels was 6 of 11 from the field and 5 of 6 from the line. Mikey Dixon scored 14 points and Peter Kiss added 13 points with nine rebounds. The Bobcats (2-5, 1-1 Metro Atlantic) shot 45 percent overall.
Marist (4-5, 1-1) was led by Ryan Funk with 23 points and Khallid Hart with 18.
Quinnipiac jumped out to an 18-8 lead, and a 20-4 run later in the first half gave the Bobcats a 42-25 lead at intermission. Dixon nailed a 3-pointer during the run, but most of the damage was done on the inside and at the line.
Marist came out of the break hot, and Funk's 3-pointer early in the second trimmed the deficit to five at 48-43. Quinnipiac responded with an eight-point spurt and retook momentum.
