MEXICO CITY (AP) — One of Mexico's best-known journalists says he will step down from his nightly newscast on the Televisa network in August.

Joaquin Lopez-Doriga hosts the nightly news show "El Noticiero" as well as a news radio show on Radio Formula and he is a columnist for the newspaper Milenio.

At the start of his nightly newscast Monday, Lopez-Doriga briefly announced that he would leave the show Aug. 19. He then moved on to summarize the rest of the day's headlines.

He has been host of the TV newscast since 2000.
