OGDEN, Utah (AP) — A 20-year-old Layton man has been formally charged with murder in the fatal shooting of his roommate at a home they shared south of Ogden.
The Standard-Examiner reports (http://tinyurl.com/htfxxnj) Davis County prosecutors filed the charging documents in 2nd District Court on Tuesday against Scot Fritz in the Dec. 19 killing of 24-year-old Taylor VanCamp.
It wasn't immediately clear if VanCamp has a lawyer or will be appointed one at his initial court appearance scheduled Wednesday.
Police say Fritz told investigators that the two were friends but got into an argument, which turned into a physical fight.
Police say Fritz told them when he realized he had a black eye and bloody nose, he "snapped," pulled a handgun out of a drawer and shot VanCamp multiple times.
