CEDAR CITY, Utah (AP) — A woman was stabbed by an intruder in her Cedar City home and a suspect is in custody.
Cedar City police say 19-year-old Ismael Lopez is accused of stabbing the victim multiple times. They did not say what charges he will face.
Police say they received a call around 4 a.m. Sunday about a homeowner holding down a suspect.
According to investigators, Lopez broke in and stabbed the woman in the neck, chest and upper body. Her husband managed to detain Lopez.
Police say the woman was transported to a hospital with injuries that are not life-threatening.
The couple's children were also in the home but they were unharmed.
Investigators have not yet determined the motive or if the family was a random target.
