LAS VEGAS (AP) — New apartments, shops and restaurants could be coming to the empty lots and vacant buildings in north Las Vegas.
The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports (http://bit.ly/292Z7U3) the city's plans are expected to be mapped and modeled by fall and construction could start in 15 months.
City director of economic and business development Gina Gavan says a draft of business incentives is still in the works to bring development to a 15-acre property.
Potential buyers have expressed interest in vacant land that was the site of a failed $100 million retail complex.
Medians, wider sidewalks and landscaping planned for 2017 are intended to slow traffic.
City crews repair vandalism in the area daily. Over $10,000 was recently spent to wrap traffic utility boxes with landscapes and other images that may deter graffiti.
