TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) — The mother of an Ohio teenager who says she was chained in a basement as punishment has been arrested on unrelated charges.
U.S. Marshals in Toledo arrested the 39-year-old woman Wednesday on probation violations.
Authorities said last week after the girl escaped from the home where she was living with other relatives that they had no idea where the mother was at the time.
They say the woman had been in Las Vegas and only returned to Toledo in the last few days.
Meanwhile, a father and his adult son are in jail on charges accusing them of chaining the woman's 13-year-old-girl and forcing her to sleep in the basement.
The pair was arrested last week by Toledo police after the girl ran from the home.
