GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (AP) — A Mesa County school board member will be able to remain in office after the Colorado Supreme Court rejected a challenge to his election.
Paul Pitton was elected to the District 51 board last fall after being certified to run as a candidate in a district that he didn't live in at the time, an issue that came up during the campaign.
The state Supreme Court ruled Monday that opponents to his election didn't file a challenge at the right time so the school board election was rightfully allowed to continue.
Pitton, who is building a house in the district he represents, told The Daily Sentinel (http://bit.ly/1TuFQN1 ) that he's relieved the court case is over.
