COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho (AP) — An Idaho State Police trooper who fired his weapon while involved in the pursuit of a suspect has been placed on administrative leave.
The Kootenai County Sheriff's Office in a statement Friday says Cpl. Shane Grady is expected to be released back to duty soon.
Police say 46-year-old J. Scott Salmond fled a transitional housing facility in Coeur d'Alene on April 19 and at one point rammed an Idaho State Police patrol car.
The sheriff's office confirmed to The Associated Press on Friday that Grady is the trooper who discharged his weapon.
Salmond ultimately escaped on foot but was arrested in Spokane, Washington, on April 22.
The Kootenai County Sheriff's office is investigating as part of the Region One Critical Incident Team but has released few details.
Salmond is being held in the Spokane County Jail awaiting extradition to Idaho.
