TWIN FALLS, Idaho (AP) — Police are investigating after a handgun discharged at a south-central Idaho middle school.
Twin Falls spokesman Josh Palmer says no one was injured Friday, but a student who discharged the weapon has been taken into custody and faces possible charges.
Palmer added that police believe the gun accidentally discharged and do not suspect malicious intent.
According to the Times-News (http://bit.ly/1WOQQ7d ), the Twin Falls School District sent out an emergency alert message to parents about the weapon discharge at Robert Stuart Middle School.
The weapon has been handed over to the Twin Falls Police department and the student's identity has not been released.
Wiley Dobbs, the district's superintendent, sent out a statement that most students were off campus on Friday as part of a community clean-up project.
