HOWELL, Mich. (AP) — Students from Detroit are attending the 2016 Michigan Construction Career Days event in Howell to work with those in the industry and learn about careers.
The two-day event takes place Thursday and Friday. Olympia Development of Michigan, which is a sponsor of the event, said in a news release that it partnered with others to provide students in seventh to 12th grades an opportunity to learn and take part in activities related to construction.
The release says students would have a chance to operate heavy equipment and learn carpentry skills.
Olympia Development is leading development of The Detroit District, which is a project in downtown Detroit that includes the future home of the Red Wings.
