FORT COLLINS, Colo. (AP) — More than a thousand Colorado State University students say they're committed to participating in Friday's annual "Undie Run" despite opposition from university officials.
The Coloradoan reports (http://noconow.co/1T3gGFh ) that the event started as an end-of-semester clothing donation drive but has devolved over six years into a raucous gathering that university officials say costs about $15,000 for cleanup and security.
The event has new organizers and was recently dubbed the Body Acceptance Run Extravaganza, or BARE. It is typically held the weekend before spring semester final exams.
University official said in a campus-wide email Tuesday that it will trash all clothing discarded in the event, so organizers told students to strip down prior to the event. Administrators concerned about the event have also said this year's participants will risk police intervention.
