NEW YORK (AP) — The NYPD says a man is under arrest after trying to grab an officer's gun outside the campus of a Bronx college.

Police say the suspect, Ronald Santos, walked up to the officer outside Monroe College and attempted to pull the gun from the officer's holster Tuesday night.

Police say a college security guard came to the officer's aid after observing him struggling with the 24-year-old suspect.

The officer was treated for a knee injury at a hospital.

Police charged Santos with robbery, assault on a police officer, weapon possession, reckless endangerment and harassment.

It was not clear what prompted the incident and whether the suspect was a student at the college.

It wasn't immediately known if Santos had an attorney who could comment on the charges.
