CLINTON, Utah (AP) — A Clinton man who holed himself up in a home to avoid jail is facing misdemeanor charges.
The Standard-Examiner in Ogden reports (http://bit.ly/1oeipd4) that 34-year-old Chase Montgomery Venstra pleaded not guilty Thursday to two charges of interference with an arresting officer.
Venstra also waived his right to an attorney.
A Davis County sheriff's deputy spotted Venstra on Feb. 6 and recognized him as having warrants out for his arrest.
Authorities say Venstra ran into the house where he was staying.
Deputies entered the home but became concerned upon seeing guns and ammunition.
Venstra, who had been hiding in the attic, surrendered peacefully several hours later.
His warrants are for charges that include assault, aggravated assault, violating a protective order, domestic violence in front of a child and stalking.
