BOSTON (AP) — An Irish nanny who spent two years in jail over accusations she killed a 1-year-old Massachusetts girl in her care now faces a lawsuit filed by the child's parents after prosecutors dropped a murder charge.
The Boston Globe (http://bit.ly/1QaQdUB ) reports that the parents of Rehma Sabir filed the wrongful death lawsuit Thursday.
It alleges that Aisling Brady McCarthy was responsible for Rehma's 2013 death from "negligent, malicious, willful, wonton, reckless and/or grossly negligent acts."
Brady always maintained her innocence. She was deported to her native Ireland soon after prosecutors dropped charges in August.
Charges were dropped after a medical examiner revised the original homicide ruling and said the baby's manner of death was "undetermined."
McCarthy's lawyer called the lawsuit "shocking and disturbing."
