CLANTON, Ala. (AP) — A former sheriff's deputy who also was a Chilton County school resource officer and teacher has been sentenced to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to multiple counts of sexual conduct with underage students.
Chilton County District Attorney Randall Houston said in a statement that David Hubbard was sentenced Wednesday. Houston says Hubbard took advantage of the public's trust in law enforcement and he "deserves to rot in prison."
Hubbard pleaded guilty in November to four counts of school employee engaging in a sex act with student under 19, one count of second-degree rape, and one count of enticing a child for immoral purposes.
David Hubbard was a former Chilton County sheriff's deputy who resigned in June 2014 to teach full-time at the LeCroy Career Center in Clanton.
