CONWAY, Ark. (AP) — The University of Central Arkansas has announced a campus-wide ban on using hoverboards indoors.
The university says hoverboards and similar equipment, including electronic skateboards and self-balancing boards, cannot be used or stored inside any campus building.
The university says the restriction falls under a policy implemented by the university's board of trustees that prohibits "roller skates, rollerblades, skateboards and other coasting devices" from campus buildings.
Officials have also prohibited users from charging their hoverboards anywhere on campus.
The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reports (http://bit.ly/1PAArf7 ) that hoverboards are allowed sidewalks and surfaces intended for pedestrians.
The university's addition of hoverboards to its existing policy happened less than month after University of Arkansas at Fayetteville prohibited hoverboards from campus housing, citing fire hazard concerns.
