NEW ORLEANS (AP) — The Latest on the shooting of a deputy in New Orleans (all times local):
2 p.m.
U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch and Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards both have paid tribute to a critically wounded deputy.
Both were attending the winter conference of the American Correctional Association in New Orleans on Tuesday.
Edwards, who is from a family of law enforcement officers, asked for a moment of silent prayer for Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Deputy Stephen Arnold.
Lynch urged people to keep Arnold, his family and members of the Sheriff's Department in their thoughts and prayers.
Police say the 35-year-old Arnold was trying to serve a warrant as part of a federal task force when he was shot at a home in the Lower 9th Ward section of the city.

New Orleans police say the suspect in the shooting of a deputy during a drug raid has been arrested on a charge of attempted first-degree murder.
In a statement several hours after the Tuesday shooting, police identify the suspect as 26-year-old Jarvis Hardy. Police say he was arrested Tuesday morning after he shot and wounded Jefferson Parish sheriff's deputy Stephen Arnold.
Police say also was arrested on narcotics violations.
Police say the 35-year-old Arnold was trying to serve a warrant as part of a federal task force when he was shot at a home in the Lower 9th Ward section of the city.
Police have said Arnold is in critical condition after undergoing surgery.

New Orleans police say a sheriff's deputy working as part of a federal task force serving a warrant in the Lower 9th Ward section is in critical condition after being shot five times.
Jefferson Parish Sheriff Newell Normand said Tuesday that Deputy Stephen Arnold underwent surgery for two hours.
Normand says that one of the wounds was in the neck and that it will be 48 hours before it's clear whether he has neurological damage.
Police spokesman Garry Flot says the deputy was working with the Drug Enforcement Administration.
Deputy Chief Paul M. Noel told reporters at the scene that when law enforcement entered a house to serve a warrant, one person inside opened fire shortly after 6 a.m.
Flot says the suspect was taken into custody and two other men who were inside are being questioned.

New Orleans police say a law enforcement officer has been shot and is being treated at a hospital.
Police spokeswoman Hilal Williams says the officer was shot in the Lower 9th Ward section of the city. The neighborhood saw some of the most devastation in the city from Hurricane Katrina in 2005.
Police did not give further details about the shooting or about any suspect.
