CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Auditors say the Nevada agency that ensures mobile homes are safe has been collecting Social Security numbers even though it's not allowed to, and hasn't been encrypting them or using other safeguards. A state audit of Nevada's Manufactured Housing Division found more than 2,000 Social Security numbers and names were unsecured on the agency's network.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — An influential Las Vegas labor union says it has brokered a deal with The Cosmopolitan resort-casino to represent more than 2,000 workers there. Nevada's Culinary Workers Union Local 226 announced today that it and the Bartenders Union Local 165 had secured a four-year contract with The Cosmopolitan's new owner, private equity firm Blackstone.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — A 43-year-old former Las Vegas has been sentenced to life in prison plus more than 30 years for hiring a homeless ex-convict to kill his estranged wife in September 2012. George Tiaffay was formally sentenced today, after a jury in September found him guilty of murder, conspiracy and other charges.

RENO, Nev. (AP) — A northern Nevada ranch property has been added to the National Register of Historic Places. KTVN-TV reports that the Douglass-Frey Ranch, located just south of Fallon, began in the 1860s. Ranch owner Colby Frey is a third-generation farmer who has been working on the property since his childhood.
