Body found near home where missing autistic teen lived

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — Authorities in Orlando have called off a search for a missing autistic teen after a body was found in retention pond near his home.

The Orange County Sheriff's Office had searched along with friends and family members of 18-year-old Kency Synsmir since he was reported missing on Saturday. The body was found Sunday evening.

Earlier in the day, Sheriff Jerry Demings had sought the public's help in searching for the teen.

Officials say the boy had been playing with his 12-year-old sister in his backyard as his mother cleaned up from a dinner with friends. When his sister came inside, his mother when looking for him. But teen, who was mute and epileptic, was gone.
