REXBURG, Idaho (AP) — State officials say they're trying to find out who illegally shot and killed a cow elk in eastern Idaho.
The Idaho Department of Fish and Game in a statement Friday says the elk was killed on Thanksgiving Day near White Owl Butte and left to rot.
Officials say a herd of more than 100 elk had been in the area, but that hunting season closed on Nov. 16.
Fish and Game officials are asking for information about any individuals or vehicles that might have been in the area.
