NEW YORK (AP) — The City University of New York plans to spend $42 million to increase graduation rates at its community colleges.
Under the plan, the Bronx Community College will be designated an Accelerated Study in Associate Programs, or ASAP, designed to help students graduate in three years.
The plan is to be unveiled on Friday by CUNY Chancellor James Milliken.
He told the Daily News (http://nydn.us/1ReyozZ ) that the funds would allow ASAP to expand to 25,000 students from 4,000 across all CUNY associate programs by 2018.
CUNY also plans to expand one college prep program for students needing remedial help and another to help with math proficiency.
The plan's aim is to increase CUNY's graduation rate to 34 percent over the next 10 years.
