IDAHO CITY, Idaho (AP) — BOISE, Idaho (AP) — State employees told a legislative committee that strengthening Idaho's system for purchasing goods and services comes down to careful training, good research, picking the right providers and following the law. The committee is digging into Idaho's contracting system in the wake of several scandals, including an illegally awarded $60 million school broadband contract that was voided by a judge earlier this year.

HAILEY, Idaho (AP) — The body of a missing central Idaho hiker has been found. The Custer County Sheriff's office says the body of 25-year-old Lucas Richardson of Hailey was found Wednesday on a ridge northeast of Sun Valley. Richardson went missing after going on a solo hike on Sept. 14 from Trail Creek summit. Officials haven't released a cause of death.

IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (AP) — An Idaho Falls man who was shot by police officers in June has been sentenced to jail for punching his girlfriend. The Post Register reports 31-year-old Ricky Mosley will also have to complete treatment for domestic violence and substance abuse. He was hospitalized for about three months after being shot.

MOUNTAIN HOME, Idaho (AP) — Mountain Home city officials have agreed to a contract for a recreation facility to be run by the YMCA. KBOI-TV reports that the Western Elmore County Recreation District approved the $4.1 million contract. Residents earlier this year started a petition drive to dissolve the district, saying it hadn't shown any results.
