Officials say the new demand for housing and other services has helped jumpstart downtown redevelopment plans sitting idle for two decades. About $60 million worth of new projects broke ground last month.

The audience inside the packed 1,620-seat theater inside the Treasure Island casino-hotel reacted excitedly to Trump's criticism of media coverage, fellow presidential candidates and today's announcement Republican Congressman Kevin McCarthy had dropped out of a race to lead the U.S. House of Representatives.
LAS VEGAS (AP) — An ex-convict accused of practicing medicine without a license in Las Vegas says he believes in an anti-authority sovereign citizen philosophy and learned to perform surgery from online videos. A police report obtained today links Rick Van Thiel with a 69-year-old woman accused in 2013 of plotting with another anti-government believer to kill Las Vegas police.
LAS VEGAS (AP) — A judge postponed until Tuesday an ex-dealer's guilty plea in an agreement that will have him testify against three co-defendants accused of cheating a Las Vegas Strip casino out of more than at $1 million in craps bets. Former Bellagio dealer James Cooper Jr.'s defense attorney, Amy Chelini, sought the delay today. Prosecutor Jay P. Raman didn't object.
