The lawyer for the family of a Texas man shot and killed by sheriff's deputies says none of the events that brought the deputies to the man's home should have resulted in his death.
Attorney Thomas J. Henry said Wednesday that domestic disturbance complaints that brought Bexar (bayr) County deputies to the San Antonio-area home "should not have precipitated him being shot in the yard."
Forty-one-year-old Gilbert Flores was killed Friday moments after video shows he raised his arms as if he were surrendering.
Authorities have said efforts to subdue Flores were unsuccessful, including the use of a stun gun, and that they believe he was holding a knife.
Henry declined to say whether Flores was armed, arguing that the central question is whether the confrontation was escalating or de-escalating when Flores was shot.

A Texas sheriff says a second video of deputies fatally shooting a man whose hands were raised appears to show him carrying what investigators believe was a knife.
Bexar (bayr) County Sheriff Susan Pamerleau said at a news conference Wednesday that the video has been forwarded to the state crime lab to see if the footage can be blown up and slowed down. She says investigators believe 41-year-old Gilbert Flores was holding a knife, but it's unclear.
A motorist captured video that was released publicly and that shows Flores standing motionless with his hands raised in apparent surrender when he was shot. A utility pole obscured one of his arms, though.
Pamerleau says the second video shows that both of Flores' arms were raised when he was killed.

A Texas sheriff says deputies who gunned down a man whose hands were raised believe he was holding a knife at the time.
Bexar (bayr) County Sheriff Susan Pamerleau told the San Antonio Express-News (http://bit.ly/1iictws ) on Tuesday that Gilbert Flores was carrying a knife when the deputies confronted him Friday outside of a home northwest of San Antonio.
She says the deputies believe he was still holding it when they shot him.

Pamerleau says investigators are reviewing video of the confrontation. She previously said Flores was armed but didn't say what type of weapon he allegedly had.
