VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (AP) — Regent University plans to offer 40 new degrees, concentrations and certificate programs in the fall.
The new programs include concentrations in cybersecurity, computer science and health care management.
The private university also has dropped several programs, including foreign languages.
Regent executive vice president Gerson Moreno-Riano tells The Virginian-Pilot (http://bit.ly/1fZtH00 ) that the programs were cut because of declining enrollment.
The cuts resulted in 17 faculty and 23 staff members losing their jobs. Moreno-Riano says they were offered severance packages and an opportunity to apply for new positions.
The school is hiring 65 new employees.
