SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) — A Springfield teacher has been charged with sexually abusing a foster child in her care.

The Springfield News-Leader reports that the 32-year-old woman was arraigned Thursday in Greene County on charges of statutory sodomy and child endangerment. She was released after posting bond. Her attorney, Roger Jones, declined to comment.

Court documents say the woman took in the alleged victim as a foster child in May 2013 after teaching her. The girl told interviewers last month that the teacher began sexually abusing her a short time later, when she was 14. Court documents say a search warrant tied to a seized cell phone then led to the discovery of pictures of the teacher and girl kissing.

The teacher has worked at an elementary school and another school for at-risk students.
