CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) — Tuition and fees will increase at most of West Virginia's public four-year institutions next academic year by 5 percent or more.

The Charleston Gazette (http://bit.ly/1SIBI8Y ) reports that the tuition information emerged Friday at a meeting of the Higher Education Policy Commission.

Bluefield State College, Fairmont State University and Glenville State College are each proposing 5 percent increases.

Marshall University has yet to propose tuition and fee levels for the 2015-16 academic year. Interim President Gary White has said the Huntington school is trying to draft a budget that won't require a general tuition increase.

The commission will hold a special meeting June 22 to consider approving WVU's requested 10 percent increase for in-state undergraduates at its Morgantown campus.
