VINCENNES, Ind. (AP) — The presidents of two of Indiana's universities are heading into retirement after more than a decade on the job.
Vincennes University President Richard Helton announced Wednesday he'll retire July 31 after serving as the southwestern Indiana school's chief since 2004. He and his wife, Cindy, are moving to Cleveland, Ohio, to help their daughter, a mother of two who's battling serious health problems.
During Helton's tenure, Vincennes University's enrollment saw eight years of continuous growth and topped 19,000 students last fall.
Taylor University President Eugene Habecker announced Thursday that he'll retire next year as president of the evangelical Christian liberal arts school in northeastern Indiana.
Habecker has been the president since 2005 of the school, which has a main campus in Upland, about 45 miles south of Fort Wayne.
