SWANTON, Vt. (AP) — It's safe to go in the library in Swanton, Vermont, now that the bees are gone.
The 99-year-old library had been closed for a while. As officials prepared to reopen it, they found one of four Corinthian columns in the front was filled with tens of thousands of honeybees.
The St. Albans Messenger reports (http://bit.ly/1HLcOzv) earlier this month, a crane removed the columns and local beekeepers rounded up the insects and got them to a new hive.
They discovered eight pounds of honey inside the column.
