SALEM, Ore. (AP) — Gov. Kate Brown is re-appointing 21 people to the year-old governing boards of Oregon's three largest universities.
Under the appointments announced Wednesday, Brown keeps in place all board members except one. Oregon State University Trustee Elson Floyd will be replaced by former Portland Community College President Preston Pulliams.
A spokesman for Oregon State says Floyd, who is also president of Washington State University, found he wasn't able to devote as much time as he'd hoped to the trustee position.
The four-year appointments at Oregon State, University of Oregon and Portland State University are subject to Senate confirmation.
A bill approved in 2013 gave Oregon's universities individual governing boards in place of a statewide board, which was disbanded. Some of the original trustees had terms expiring this year, others in 2017.
