SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Salt Lake County health officials will begin collecting donations of sunscreen, hats, lip balm and water bottles to help homeless people stay protected from the sun.
Starting Wednesday, donation boxes will be placed at all county library branches, the Huntsman Cancer Institute and the county government building.
Officials say Utah one of the country's highest rates of skin cancer, and the homeless are particularly vulnerable because they spend more time outdoors.
The Fourth Street Clinic, which serves about 4,200 homeless people a year, will distribute the donated items.
