MONTOURSVILLE, Pa. (AP) — Police say a 2-year-old Pennsylvania boy found a handgun on a bed and shot himself in the leg while his mother and her boyfriend were showering.
Investigators say the toddler took the .45-caliber gun from an upstairs bedroom at the boyfriend's Montoursville home Thursday and played with it on a downstairs couch as he watched cartoons.
Police say the bullet lodged in the boy's back. They say he was conscious and talking before surgery to repair damage to organs. Police say he'll undergo surgery Friday to remove the bullet.
No charges have been filed. Montoursville police are investigating.
