DUBUQUE, Iowa (AP) — More than $7,300 has been raised at a head-shaving event in Dubuque aimed at raising money for cancer research.
Members of Phi Theta Psi, a co-ed social organization, at the University of Dubuque organized the third annual St. Baldrick's Foundation event held Thursday night in the college's gym. The money will go to the foundation to support childhood cancer research in Iowa.
Junior Nicole Toro, who helped organize the event, was among several students who had a buzz cut. She says she's glad that she could help raise awareness about cancer and support the cause.
