TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) — A fraternity at the University of Arizona has been shut down for three years over repeated violations.
School officials announced Thursday that effective immediately, the Delta Sigma Phi must cease all activity on the Tucson campus through May 2018.
The UA Dean of Students Office says an investigation it conducted found chapter members engaged in hazing, endangerment and providing alcohol to minors.
The violations reportedly occurred last year while the fraternity was under probation and a suspension that prohibited events with alcohol.
The chapter with more than 100 undergraduate men has 20 days to appeal the university's decision.
Delta Sigma Phi's national office can propose a plan in May 2018 to reinstate the fraternity at the school as long as no current members are affiliated with the new chapter.
