LAS VEGAS (AP) — Wynn Resorts officials say that as the board spent several years discussing plans to buy land on the Las Vegas Strip, director Elaine Wynn didn't reveal her nephew was involved in a competing bid. Officials mentioned the land deal for the first time today while asking shareholders not to re-nominate Wynn to the board. She did not immediately respond to the claim.

CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Nevada Democratic Sen. Pat Spearman is set to present an alternative tax plan that she says would generate as much revenue as Gov. Brian Sandoval's proposal. The bill repeals the modified business tax, which Spearman says discourages hiring. It would impose a 0.47 percent tax on business gross receipts that exceed $25,000 in a quarter.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — A Malaysian group says it will break ground May 5 on a long-delayed $4 billion Asian-themed casino-resort on the Las Vegas Strip. A spokesman for Resorts World says the delays were due to finalizing a design that would endure on the Strip. The casino-resort will go up on the site of the partially-built Echelon casino-hotel.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Former NFL star Darren Sharper pleaded guilty in Las Vegas to reduced felony attempted sex assault as part of a four-state plea deal that'll put him to federal prison for about nine years. Sharper appeared today by Internet hookup from a courtroom in Los Angeles before a Clark County District Court judge who accepted his plea and scheduled sentencing June 25.
