PHOENIX (AP) — Authorities say six students at a north Phoenix elementary school have been taken to a hospital after ingesting an unknown substance.

Phoenix Fire Department crews responded to Vista Peak School near 15th Avenue and the Loop 101 freeway at around 11 a.m. Friday and treated the students.

Fire officials say all six were stable and talking when they were transported to a hospital for further evaluation.

They say the students ingested a foreign substance that will require further testing from the hospital to confirm its identity.

The students' names and ages weren't released.

School administrators say they will conduct an investigation.
