Condoleezza Rice to speak at William and Mary commencement

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (AP) — Former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice will speak at the College of William and Mary's spring commencement ceremony.

The college says the ceremony is scheduled for May 16 in William and Mary Hall.

Rice will receive an honorary doctor of public service degree at the event. Rice is currently the Denning Professor in Global Business and the Economy at the Stanford Graduate School of Business. She's also a member of the College Football Playoff Committee.

Former Defense Secretary Robert Gates, who served in former President George W. Bush's cabinet alongside Rice, will also speak at the event. Gates is an alumnus and currently serving as William and Mary's chancellor.
