EAGLE MOUNTAIN, Utah (AP) — A father of four was shot and killed in an apparent domestic dispute at his home in Utah County.
Investigators say 31-year-old Tiana Hitesman called dispatchers Friday night to report she had just shot her 33-year-old husband, Elwin Hitesman, at their home in Eagle Mountain.
He was found dead in the living room with a gun laying on the floor.
Sheriff's Lt. Erik Knutzen told KSL the wife is believed to be the shooter and there's "some indication" the shooting was in self-defense. She was released after questioning by detectives.
Four children between the ages of 1 and 9 were in the house at the time, but apparently didn't witness the shooting.
Knutzen says Elwin Hitesman previously was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence and the shooting remains under investigation.
