FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) — A former biology teacher at a South Florida religious school has been sentenced to 20 years in federal prison for having sex with a 14-year-old female student.

U.S. District Judge William Zloch imposed the sentence Thursday on 25-year-old Eric Beasley, who taught at Zion Lutheran Christian School in Deerfield Beach. Beasley pleaded guilty in December to illegally enticing or luring a minor for sexual purposes.

The South Florida Sun Sentinel (http://bit.ly/1EhwSGP ) reports that Beasley still faces sentencing next week for state sex charges. Beasley also must register as a sex offender and will remain on probation the rest of his life.

Previous testimony showed Beasley was warned by administrators not to get too close to the girl. Beasley said he never thought he'd go to prison for the relationship.
