IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (AP) — An eastern Idaho man police say fled to California after shooting and killing his girlfriend in Idaho Falls is fighting attempts to be extradited to Idaho.
The Post Register reports (http://www.postregister.com/node/72690) that 25-year-old Kevin Mcquilliams of Pocatello remains in Nevada County, California, jail.
Mcquilliams is scheduled to next appear in court in Nevada County on Thursday.
In Idaho he faces charges of involuntary manslaughter and aggravated assault following the Jan. 1 shooting death of 34-year-old Annarae Ponce of Pocatello.
Police investigators say Ponce wasn't the intended target when Mcquilliams opened fire.
Bonneville County Prosecutor Danny Clark says the extradition process could take a month or more.
