SOUTH JORDAN, Utah (AP) — A West Valley woman and her 4-year-old son have died in a head-on collision in Salt Lake County.
South Jordan police say Zaven Meguerditchian died at the scene, while his 31-year-old mother, Rashelle Meguerditchian died later at a hospital.
Investigators believe the mother was driving on the wrong side of Bacchus Highway, also known as State Route 111, early Friday morning when her vehicle was hit by an oncoming pickup truck.
The truck driver, a 33-year-old man whose name was not immediately released, was in fair condition Friday night at a hospital after suffering serious injuries.
Police say the child was in a child booster seat with a seat belt on in the back seat when the crash occurred shortly before 6 a.m.
The wreck is under investigation.
