AMERICAN FORK, Utah (AP) — A Utah high school marching band is among a handful of marching bands that performed in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York.

The American Fork High School band was one of eight high school and college bands that participated in the televised parade on Thursday.

It's the second time in seven years the group of more than 200 has been selected to participate.

Band members sent their instruments to New York ahead of time in a semitrailer, and had them delivered to the parade staging area.

The Deseret News reports the group raised more than $400,000 to go on the trip. They were also scheduled to go sightseeing in New York, see a Broadway production of the musical "Wicked," and have Thanksgiving dinner on a cruise ship.
