Clarksville teacher gets $25K Milken Award

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — A third-grade Clarksville teacher has received a $25,000 award from the Milken Family Foundation.

Nicole Castile of Norman Smith Elementary was presented the award this week by Tennessee Education Commissioner Kevin Huffman and the National Institute for Excellence in Teaching.

The Milken Award recognizes exemplary elementary and secondary school teachers, principals and specialists who are furthering excellence in education.

Castile serves as Norman Smith's science, technology, engineering and mathematics leader, training her colleagues at the school and district level.
