LAS VEGAS (AP) — Police are identifying two teenagers who were badly hurt and a 19-year-old driver who was jailed on felony driving under the influence charges in an apparent hood-surfing accident after an overnight bonfire party outside Las Vegas.

Las Vegas police say 19-year-old Jesus Orozco of Las Vegas and 18-year-old Luis Mendoza of North Las Vegas are hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after being thrown from their perches atop a moving Hyundai sedan a little before 5 a.m. Friday near the eastern end of Sahara Avenue.

Both were taken to University Medical Center. Police say Orozco has severe head injuries.

The driver, Alexandria Rae Garcia of Las Vegas, is being held at the Clark County jail pending an initial court appearance on charges that could get her up to 20 years in prison.
