BURKE, Va. (AP) — A 93-year-old Virginia woman received an honorary diploma from her high school in New York, 75 years after her graduation date.
WRC-TV reports (http://bit.ly/XGK4W1 ) Jane Pickett of Burke, Virginia, turned 93 this month, and as a gift her family contacted Rye Country Day School in Rye, New York, and asked its administrators to send an honorary diploma.
Pickett completed her high school education in 1939, but did not walk across the stage. Instead, Pickett married her husband on the same day as graduation.
In addition to the diploma, the high school also sent a sash and other gifts for Pickett.
