DRAPER, Utah (AP) — An inmate has died after a fight at Utah State Prison.
Utah Department of Corrections officials say 25-year-old Christopher Lucas died Saturday night after fighting another inmate in a cell.
They say officers used pepper spray to break up the fight after the two inmates ignored their orders to stop.
Lucas collapsed as officers walked him out of the cell, and was pronounced dead after being taken to a local hospital.
An autopsy will be performed to pinpoint his cause of death.
Lucas was serving a 1- to 15-year sentence for second-degree felony forcible sexual abuse and had been held at the prison since June 2009.
He was next scheduled to appear before the Utah Board of Pardons and Parole in January.
