SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Salt Lake City police say they arrested a 69-year-old man who hurled his shoe at an officer during an interview.
Authorities say the incident happened at about 2:30 a.m. Monday, while police were responding to reports of a fight between tenants.
Police say a security guard was trying to determine whether Charles Welch should be allowed to enter the apartment complex when Welch assaulted him and another tenant who tried to intervene.
Officers who arrived to gather information say Welch became upset and threw a shoe at the officer's torso.
Welch was arrested and booked on suspicion of assault on a peace officer.
