NEW YORK (AP) — A day after beating Venus Williams in singles at the U.S. Open, Sara Errani and her partner, Roberta Vinci, were knocked out in the second round as the top-seeded team in women's doubles.
Errani and Vinci, the Italians who were the 2012 champions at Flushing Meadows, lost 6-4, 1-6, 6-4 Saturday to Jarmila Gajdosova and Ajla Tomljanovic of Australia.
At Wimbledon last month, Errani and Vinci won the title to complete a career Grand Slam in doubles.
