MINDEN, Nev. (AP) — A northern Nevada psychic has been arrested on fraud charges after sheriff's deputies say she tried to dupe unsuspecting customers.

Douglas County Sheriff's Capt. John Milby says Helen Welch of Minden was arrested Wednesday. He says deputies began an undercover investigation after customers claimed Welch was committing fraud at the "Little Psychic Shop" she operates on U.S. Highway 395 in Minden.

Welch was booked on suspicion of a single felony count of attempting to obtain money under false pretenses.

Welch couldn't immediately be reached for comment. It wasn't clear if she has obtained a lawyer and a date for her initial court appearance had not been set.

Milby says anyone who believes they may have been victimized by Welch should contact the Douglas County Sheriff's Office Investigation Division at 775-782-9905.
