KALAMAZOO, Mich. (AP) — Scholars and policymakers from around the globe plan to gather next month for a conference on Africa at Western Michigan University.
The eighth International Conference on African Development is scheduled for Aug. 14-16 at the Kalamazoo school. The theme is "The Challenges of Good Governance and Leadership for Sustainable Development in African States."
The keynote speech scheduled for Aug. 15 will be delivered by Mammo Muchie. The professor from The Tshwane University of Technology in South Africa will discuss creating sustainable governance and removing social capital and institutional deficits across the continent.
The free conference is sponsored by the university's Center for African Development Policy Research and other organizations.
